Thomas Marbeck was a player with the Admiral's men in 1602, according to the plot of "1 Tamar Cham." He played bit parts including "a nobleman, Pontus, attendant, hostage, guard, child, and captain" (Nungezer, p. 244). In the register of St. Saviour's, Southwark, he is called a musician in an entry on 26 June 1603 for the christening of his son, Roger.

Mark Eccles provides a number of additional details: Marbeck had himself been christened on 25 October 1577 at St. Dunstan in the West; his sister married Thomas Middleton; an elder brother to Roger named Thomas was christened at St Giles, Cripplegate, on 14 November 1600 and tagged "base born"; a younger brother to Roger, Mark, was christened on 15 April 1605 at St. Bartholomew the Less (p. 298).
