Francis Langley, 1548-1602, is best known by scholars of English theater history as the entrepreneur behind the Swan playhouse in Southwark, 1595—1634. Langley also invested in the business at the Boar's Head playhouse. A famous drawing by Johannes de Witt imagines a moment during a performance at the Swan, c. 1596.
