Phillips was a player in the plot of 2 Seven Deadly Sins, Every Man In his Humour, and Every Man Out of his Humour. He represented the Chamberlain's men before the Lord Chief Justice in February 1601 concerning the recent performance of Richard II at the Globe. He died in 1605, leaving a will full of details about his professional and personal connections.
