F. G. Fleay, BCED has no opinion on the narrative source of this play (2.289, #330). Chambers, ES opines that Panecia, which was rehearsed for the Court, "was probably either their play of 26 December ... or that of 1 January 1575, in which there were chimney sweepers" (2.88). He notes that the 26 December performance
offers no opinions, but he does record its performance at court (2.88, 4.89, 147). Wiggins offers ""Contemporary" as a possible category of genre.
