Theatrical Provenance


The only record of performance for Panecia is the Revels Account, in which it is attributed to Leicester's men, who performed both at court, in London, and in the provinces.

F. G. Fleay, BCED has no opinion on the narrative source of this play (2.289, #330). Chambers, ES opines that Panecia, which was rehearsed for the Court, "was probably either their play of 26 December ... or that of 1 January 1575, in which there were chimney sweepers" (2.88).
