Category:Robert Browne

There is more than one Robert Browne in theatrical records. Herbert Berry analyzes the possible identifications ("Appendix 9: Robert Browne," The Boar's Head Playhouse, 191-7). He decides that the "Browne who led a troupe of actors on the continent" was neither the Browne who led Derby's men nor the Browne of the Boar's Head about whom Philip Henslowe replied (to Edward Alleyn in 1603), saying that that Browne was dead and had died very poor.
