Albert Feuillerat, 1874-1953, was born in Toulouse, France, and educated at the Lycée of Toulouse (1891)and University of Toulouse (1896). He had positions at the universities of Paris and Rennes before moving to the United States, where he had positions at Harvard, then Columbia, before moving to New Haven, CT, where he was the Sterling Professor of French at Yale University from 1929-43.

Over his prodigious career, he published editions of the works of Sir Philip Sidney, John Lyly, and William Shakespeare. In addition he contributed to the scholarship on the authorship of Shakespeare's plays. He is best known in theater history circles for his publication of documents from the Office of Revels.
