Edward Archer was a bookseller in London. In 1656, he published a play called The Old Law by Philip Massinger. To that publication he appended a list (or "Catalogue") of "all the Playes, with the Authors Names, and what are Comedies, Tragedies, Histories, Pastoralls, Masks, Interludes, more exactly Printed then ever before." Famously, Archer listed "Hieronimo, both parts" (without assigning an author), as had the earlier playlist of Rogers and Ley, but separately he also listed "Spanish Tragedie," which he ascribed to 'Tho. Kyte."
